CBS announced today that Bob Hearts Abishola will be coming to an end with its upcoming fifth season. The news arrives three months before the comedy returns for its now-final run, which will air between February and May 2024.
"We are so proud to call Bob Hearts Abishola a CBS comedy as it helped establish a new generation of programming at the Network," said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. "This series expertly showcased a family love story and workplace comedy about the immigrant experience with heartfelt humor and emotion while also authentically portraying Nigerian culture. It's a testament to the incomparable Chuck Lorre, the amazing creative team led by Al Higgins, Gina Yashere and Matt Ross, and the talents of Billy Gardell, Folake Olowofoyeku and the entire cast for making this show and its characters come to life and resonate with viewers. We plan to celebrate it this spring and give fans the most amazing episodes to remember it by."
The half-hour series follows a middle-aged man from Detroit who, after a heart attack lands him in the hospital, unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse, who is a Nigerian immigrant. Since its premiere in 2019, it has been a consistently strong performer for the network and one of the most-watched comedies on television.
Season 5 of Bob Hearts Abishola premieres on Monday, February 12 for a 13-episode final run that will conclude on May 13.

The first couple of seasons were a hoot! The romantic jousting and the culture clashing worked really well. After B&A were married, the show drooped as it became a tired and cliche "annoying in-laws and their hijinx" sitcom. We gave up.

While this sucks, it's not unsurprising... I really love this show and could keep watching it for another couple of seasons though... While the chemistry between Bob and Abishola wasn't the super hot hot burning love kind, it was like a middle aged kind, which I could appreciate... The cast is amazing and I hope to see them pop up elsewhere soon...

Terrible show! It should not have had a second season. The acting was embarrassing!

Stunned this show lasted that long. Bob and Abishola have zero chemistry together. The B characters are way better than the two main ones.

Bummer! We really like this show and the characters have grown on us. I will be sorry to see it go!
