The updated action drama adds more episodes.

It is being reported that Magnum P.I. has been added to the list of new shows to receive a full season order from CBS. The network has topped up its freshman run with an unspecified number of episodes, said to be somewhere in the range of seven.
The new series, which is an updated take on the classic 1980s action drama, premiered in late September and has been a decent performer on Monday nights through its first four episodes. Critical reception has been mixed, with some reviewers unsure of its ability to live up to its source material.
Magnum P.I. follows security consultant Thomas Magnum, who works as a private investigator in Hawaii making a name for himself by taking cases nobody else will. Along with help from a team of fellow vets, Magnum utilizes his military skills to make a name for himself while on all sorts of sun-drenched adventures.

It's OK, but the "will they or won't they" romance between Magnum and Higgins is getting in the way of the stories. I hope they don't drag it out over a whole season.
I have watched a few episodes of the original series recently and while it's fondly remembered the production values and pace of the stories back then don't hold a candle to what we see today.

I think it's decent, but definitely not as good as the original. I'll watch it though as it may improve. Hawaii Five O turned out to be really good so who knows?

The show may be spot on the the original but has it aged well. I look back at many of the old shows I grew up with and find them to be out of step with modern times. This could be a case of the same thing, many of the remakes miss the mark because the audience has changed.

My husband was very excited to see this show, gave it one episode and decided it was rubbish! I watched briefly saw the trailers and give it one season at most!

I watched Tom Selleck as Magnum P.I. religiously. Sure this show isn't the original but its not as bad as people here are claiming. I bet not a single one of them actually watched it. Its almost spot on the same type of show just new. They have done a decent job or recreating the show and each episode you can see how the cast grows more comfortable and works better with each other. They said the same thing with Hawaii 5-0 and its been on for years now. Funny note just like the original Magnum there is cross characters from Magnum and 5-0 which is cool.

The show lacks the same camaraderie that the original cast had. Perhaps the show will improve as the season progresses.

I like this show, but I never saw the source material, so I don't know how well it holds up. I would love to see Tom Selleck as Robin, it would be fitting.
