The action drama has 10 final episodes left to air.
June 23, 2023
It is being reported that Magnum P.I. will be coming to an end on NBC after the upcoming second part of Season 5. The action drama still has 10 final episodes that will still air at a yet-to-be-determined date.
The updated take on the 1980s classic series originally premiered on CBS in 2018 and was a decent performer on Friday nights over the course of its run. The show aired a total of 76 episodes before being cancelled in 2022 after four seasons.
The very next month, though, NBC stepped in and revived the show for what was expected to be a fifth and sixth season over a total of 20 episodes. That plan has changed though, with the 20 episodes now being rolled into just one season - the current, and now final, Season 5.
Magnum P.I. follows security consultant Thomas Magnum, who works as a private investigator in Hawaii making a name for himself by taking cases nobody else will. Along with help from a team of fellow vets, Magnum utilizes his military skills to make a name for himself while on all sorts of sun-drenched adventures.

Really disappointing. Upset when CBS cancelled it. Happy that NBC picked it up. Took almost whole season to finally air it, but it was only 10 episodes. Now they say they're cancelling it after 10 more episodes. Don't want it to go to streaming. I don't do streaming. They want to stream everything to get you to pay more. And they cancel shows on that too anyway. They cancel everything for more reality TV that isn't real.

I liked the revival generally but for some reason I just couldn't stick with it. Like the original, the stories were too much about Magnum mooching off the resources of his friends and taking over their lives to get his cases solved.
Any series done in Hawai'i has higher costs and needs better than average ratings to justify its production. The magnificent scenery only gets you so much.
Some of the twists introduced by this version were good, like making Higgins female and the eventual love interest of Magnum. Perdita Weeks is a definite find and I hope she'll show up elsewhere. Hernandez did a good job of portraying Magnum too.
There just isn't enough good lighthearted fare on TV these days, something you can just relax with after a hard day.

Why, NBC, did you take it over on the first place. I hope one of the streaming services pick it up. Good show, good cast.

To be completely honest, season 4s ending wouldve made an excellent wrap to the show. Since they saved it though they better give it an equally as good ending.
I really enjoyed the show though. It was sort of an action show but light hearted and wasnt TOO serious. I was skeptical about the cast lineup but gave it a shot and Higgins is actually my favorite on the show.

Leave the writers alone, jasmine. Any worker on strike has already anticipated ANY dire consequences you can come up with for such a last resort measure, and still found themselves with no other choice. If you cannot think of a situation in which YOU had to go on strike, you're either lucky that many others before you sacrificed themselves to gain rights you enjoy today but clearly don't value much, or a coward ready to lose such rights the second someone like yourself points out how inconvenient it'd be for you to go on strike. Or maybe it's that you're on the other side of the table?

This is one show I hate to see go off the air again, but this time for good. All good shows do have to come to an end, but I'd like to have seen a couple of more seasons.
Not as good as the original, but still very good and I'd say it's near enough. The chemistry all the main actors had was awesome.

Gave it a try when it began, for about four episodes. It was such a feeble forgery that we gave up. I have to give the show credit though: it inspired us to dig out the original series from the video library and hugely enjoy a couple of seasons of the real Magnum.

I love this show. Shame on the people who canceled it. I come from a family of military and its the only show that dedicated its time and effort of hearing veterans stories and incorporating their voices where it wasn't heard before. I have a cousin who served 2 tours in Afghanistan and came back with p.t.s.d and seeing that show put a smile on his face which meant more to me then anything else. Thanks for nothing. I want to say thank you to the actors and their hard work they put into this show i want to apologize to them for dealing with cooperate of keeping you the actors in limbo.
