No Season 9 for the CBS drama.
March 6, 2025
Word is out that CBS has cancelled S.W.A.T. after eight seasons. The news comes with nine episodes remaining in what will be the drama's final run after what has been a bumpy last couple of years.
The series premiered in 2017 and established itself as a reliable performer for CBS until it was unexpectedly cancelled in 2023 after six seasons. A few days later the network reversed its decision with a renewal for a seventh and final season. That move was eventually walked back as well, with an eighth-season renewal a year later. This time, however, the cancellation will likely be the end of the series for good.
"It's heartbreaking news, primarily because it's been such an immense pleasure working with this cast and crew to put out a show that we've always been proud of," executive producer and showrunner Andrew Dettmann said in a statement. "They are truly an extraordinary group of people who have all worked so hard and have been so dedicated for all these eight seasons, overcoming countless challenges. I can't give them enough credit. I feel so privileged to have been a part of the S.W.A.T. family."
Shemar Moore stars in the Los Angeles-based series, which follows a former Marine tasked with running a specialized tactical unit that acts as the city's last stop in law enforcement. Raised on the streets, he is torn between his loyalty to his roots and his allegiance to his new brothers in blue as he works to bridge the divide between his two worlds.

Folks say "the show went woke," but the first episode has a white cop quitting because he shot a Black kid who was running but not a criminal. And Hondo gets his job because his boss wants a Black face to offset that event.
The show started "woke" and even addressed that.
It just handled it poorly as time went on.

It went WOKE/BLM, and lost the good story lines for PC rubbish, started off very good then ruined by the few lecturing the many.

Thank CBS for cancelling SWAT (again). While I watched it, I must say I didn't particularly like it, which probably also says something about me. CBS, let's see what you have to replace SWAT, FBI Most Wanted, FBI International, and anything else yet to be cancelled.

The comment section of this site always brings out the worst people. Especially if a show has a black or female lead.

When the actress who played Nichelle left the show to be on that crappy Watson show, I figured they were done. Even she knew to jump ship.

My biggest problem is this is the third time they canceled the show, the last two times when they revived they lost good people because they moved on to other shows during the lag between cancelled and not. When you screw around like that you destroy integrity of the show. The first post cancelation was still watchable but the second was not. If they pull a reversal again, I don't care, it will be beyond trash at that point.

They really jerked around the cast and crew of this show the last few years. To cancel the show, bring it back for a “final season” so that they write off three of the stars, only to bring it back and then cancel it again is just nasty work.
Shamar Moore is TV’s The Rock, so he’ll be fine. Sucks for the rest of the cast and crew though.

New announcement: "NCIS: Walla Walla", "NCIS: Garden City, KS" and "NCIS: Water Cooler" will be airing next year, along with "FBI: Least Wanted"
Plus SWAT is now going to be "S.W.A.T.ch" about a bunch of tough cops who can't stop talking about their swanky 80's colorful watches.
This is what happens in the morning before I have enough coffee.
