The Hallmark drama scores an early pickup.
December 2, 2025
Hallmark Channel announced today that When Calls the Heart has been renewed for a 14th season in 2027. The pickup is an early one, as Season 13 doesn't premiere until January. Serving as the network's longest-running original series on the air, the show has been enjoying steady viewership that has continued to rank it as one of cable TV's top-rated shows.
Season 14 will see the return of original star Lori Loughlin, who has been away from the show since 2019 following her arrest related to a college admissions bribery scandal. Loughlin will reprise her role as Abigail and is set to appear in six of the 12 episodes.
"Since the series' debut in 2014, the character of Abigail Stanton was a fan favorite and beloved by the Hearties," said Hallmark Media's head of programming, Michelle Vicary. "At its core the Hallmark brand is about hope, positivity and connection, which is also the central theme of When Calls the Heart. We felt that season 14 was the right time to continue Abigail's story with her return to this beloved series."
Inspired by Janette Oke's book of the same name, When Calls the Heart takes place in the early 20th century and follows a young teacher from a wealthy eastern family who moves to a small western coal mining town for her first classroom assignment.
