A drama following a middle aged man who pursues his dream of becoming an LAPD officer.
John Nolan is a middle aged man from a small town. After a life-changing incident, he decides to pursue his dream of being an officer for the Los Angeles Police Department.
But as the force's oldest rookie, he faces skepticism from some senior officers who simply see him as a walking midlife crisis. John will need to keep up with not only the criminals, but the younger cops in the precinct.
If he can make use of his own life experiences while remaining determined, he just might become a success in this new chapter of his life.

I sure hope the network understands we want more if this show. All of the online sites say it could be cancelled. Not a tragedy, but it would be a shame. Without programming like this I would just go to Netflix alone.

I look forward to Tuesday nights and watching this show. I like Fillion, the supporting cast, and the basic premise of the show. It's unusual but presented believably. The show took 2-3 episodes to get moving but has hit its stride for many weeks now. I'll be seriously disappointed if it isn't renewed for next year.

Didn't think I'd like this show, at all. Still dvr'd it and now it's one of my top 5 favorite shows. Love the cast and as their interactions unfold, their likability just keeps increasing. A little comedy tossed in with the serious and good story lines, very enjoyable. It deserves to be renewed, for sure.

Like the show very much. Watched Fillion on Firefly & Castle liked both, but REALLY liked Castle. The Rookie is actually a very good show. Of course there is always room for improvement. Hopefully it will be renewed, so it can have a chance to live up to its full potential.

I loved Nathan Fillion, but this show needs to become more gritty and less juvenile. To much touchy feely and not enough law enforcing.

I did not want to like this show....I love it. Ugh. I have never been a fan of Fillion but I guess it's true that your taste buds are always changing!

This is quickly becoming our favourite show. Each episode draws us in a little more. The actors are well cast and do a really good job. The characters are relatable and their relationships are interesting. The plots are intriguing and give a glimpse of real life.

Tomorrow night (December 11th) is the last episode before the winter hiatus, at least that's what I've gathered. Is this going to be another one of those sneak attack series ENDINGS under the guise of a season finale? At least Chicago PD is coming back January 9th.

Meh, getting a bit repetitive. The writing seems lazy with no real story to tell. Yes it is called 'The Rookie' so you think it would focus more on Fillion but instead he's just another cast member in a bunch of cookie-cutter characters. And the 'workplace relationships will kill your career' plot-line is abjectly ridiculous. A lot of relationships start in the work place and a lot of couples successfully work together so this seems like an ill thought out distraction or maybe a tacit admission that the writers don't have anything to say.
So while the actors are fine, like most TV shows these days it is bereft of anything meaningful to say and so far has a plot so shallow that you couldn't drown an amoeba in it. Will force myself to finish the season but if they don't come up with something by the end then I wont be coming back.

this Show is getting better thanks please renew it.
