CBS announced today that hit reality series Survivor has been renewed for the 2011-12 season. They also made the announcement that host Jeff Probst has signed a new deal to return for the 23rd and 24th editions of the show.

This news indicates that the network has no plans of slowing down production of the reality competition as it enters its eleventh and twelfth years on the air. Currently in its 22nd season, we can expect to see Season 23 and 24 air before the end of 2012.

Survivor has been a long-running hit for the network. On the air for over a decade, the series manages to stay fresh with smart casting choices, as well as serving up fresh and exotic locations for its shoots.

This season saw Survivor move from its regular Thursday night time slot to Wednesdays at 8:00pm. The show continues to be as popular as ever, with its current edition - titled Redemption Island - averaging a 3.2 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic.
