The new drama will return for Season 2.
March 7, 2017
The CW announced today that Riverdale has been renewed for a second season in 2017-2018. The freshman drama, which premiered as a midseason entry in January, features re-imagined characters from Archie Comics in a noir-style murder mystery.
Executive-produced by Greg Berlanti, Riverdale follows Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead in their sophomore year of high school as they deal not only with issues in each of their personal lives, but also with the aftermath of the death of one of their classmates.
Coming six weeks into the show's run, today's early pickup is The CW's first renewal for a new series so far this season. The move reflects the network's confidence in the direction of the show, which has garnered positive reviews from critics despite only decent ratings performance. Delayed and digital viewing, however, has shown more positive signs, with Riverdale becoming one of the network's most-streamed series.

I love this show as well and I am sure I am way older than their target audience, but who cares? Great show!

The show has its good and bad. But I REALLY hate the overt racist tone set by the Pussycat Trio. From the very instant they were first on screen, the entire interaction was about racism. And every time afterwards its constant race baiting and frankly its one of the reasons I just fast forward past anything involving that group in the show. It is starting to bleed into the rest of the show now and I am probably going to stop watching soon if it keeps up like this. STOP with all the pathetic RACE BAITING Hollywood.

I caught like 15 minutes of the 3rd or 4th episode and could not believe this was on TV. It's just horrible in my opinion. But then.. I guess tweens need TV too.

I guess I was very wrong. I had no idea Archie was still around, and from the beginning, I didn't think this show could attract enough of an audience. Even when I had watched Riverdale and liked it, I still thought it was hopeless. I'm glad I was wrong.
