The crime drama will continue in 2020.

NBC announced today that The Blacklist has been picked up for a seventh season. Word is that Season 7 was already secured last May when the crime drama was renewed for Season 6, though nothing was said at the time. Currently sitting at an impressive 121 total episodes, the show could surpass the 150 mark if next season follows suit with another full 22 episodes.
Led by James Spader, the series premiered in 2013 as one of the top new shows of that year. While its best days have long-since passed, the show still draws a decent audience in its new Friday night time slot. This season marks its first as a mid-season player, with a January premiere rather than its typical fall start. The network will likely keep it in the mid-season for 2019-2020.
The Blacklist stars Spader as an ex-government agent-turned-FBI's most wanted fugitive, who mysteriously surrenders himself to the agency with an offer to help them bring down some of the country's top criminals. The only condition is that he gets to work alongside an FBI profiler named Elizabeth Keen, which leads to a twisting series of events that slowly reveal his true motives.

Dumb time to announce the renewal as their might have been some suspense that Red would actually get the chair. Small chance but sole. That’s off the table now. One day I’d like to see the show hit the top 10 Blacklisters. How friggin bad must they be. The trial stuff was entertaining and Liz is still annoying as heck. I really don’t understand how neither Red nor Dembe cant see right thru her BS act. Glad it’s coming back for another season.

The Plopster took it off the DVR after last season's finale where we learn Raymond isn't Raymond. Stupid... I imagined it's been downhill since, and the comments here kinda confirm it. Even the positive ones like "I can handle another season" aren't so enthusiastic. And others stating it is dragging now. Looks like I made the correct decision. I did enjoy it for 5 seasons minus the season 5 finale.

Lucky seven! While its been fun for me to watch Red channeling his inner Alan Shore, its time for the next evolution.

Great show, agree that it needs to resolve some of the story lines and stop dragging on so much but you can never have to much of James Spader as Red.
The show wouldn't be worth watching without Spader and his terrific monologues not to mention he's masterful performance as Red. He embodies the characters essence and oozes the charisma of an "untouchable" kingpin who really is above the law.

I am still astonished every awards season that James Spader has not won a single award for Raymond Reddington. Its probably his greatest character ever. Hes like Ultron with a conscience. Hes an amazing actor.
