It was announced today that Fear the Walking Dead has been picked up by AMC for a sixth season. Executive Producer Scott M. Gimple broke the good news during the show's panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, just days ahead of this Sunday's mid-season finale.
The zombie drama, which began as a companion series to The Walking Dead, has seen some significant changes over the past two seasons. The new showrunner duo of Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg have altered its overall tone and storytelling style since Season 4, changing up the cast significantly as well. The show's timeline has also gotten closer to the mothership series, with two stars of The Walking Dead having now crossed over to Fear.
Look for Season 6 of Fear the Walking Dead to premiere in mid-2020. In the meantime, the second half of Season 5 returns on August 11.

Great news! Over the last two seasons or so, I'm finding myself looking forward to this show more than the original!

Cal , I agree. the zombies were never the main focus of either show. The comic book series these came for actually has little zombie violence in it mostly. However. the first season remains one of the worst series about zombies ever. The second improved and from then on , I have enjoyed this.

@Michael, the zombies in the shows are really not the main focal point anymore. Both of the shows have evolved.

I thought the cast of season 1 and 2 was fine, it was the writing that was the problem , season one made no sense, the national guard seals off one random nieghborhood and acts like villians. Lame, the ng would have such resources. Amd would have been located at a school or such. I hated that season.

They have done and excellent job of killing off the horrible characters.... Essentially the entire cast from seasons 1 and 2 other than Victor, Daniel, and Alicia. There are some SERIOUS plot holes in season 5, but they can be overlooked for the most part. The children is a good twist.. the plane meh.. not so much... good thing the wind was blowing in the direction they needed it, rather than actually blowing against the mountain and back like real life. :) I'll tune in for 6....

this show gets better each season. I like it a lot. However, many are suffering from zombie burnout I guess, and just do not like zombie shows. I never did have that. been a lifelong zombie fan. In fact i love "i zombie" even, which is ending in a few weeks. In the flesh , from the u.k was great but only lasted a few seasons. But I look forward to this show each week and they wisely added two cast members from the walking dead into this one.
