The upcoming season has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
June 19, 2020
Fox has announced that Season 17 of So You Think You Can Dance will not be happening as planned. The dance competition won't be returning this summer due to the ongoing global pandemic and the related health restrictions that have been put in place.
Back in March, producers appeared to be trying to work around the situation by holding preliminary auditions using video submissions. But the overall outlook has not improved as hoped, making it impossible to go ahead with things the way they are.
While the network has not commented on the show's future, it can be assumed that SYTYCD will be back once it is able to do so safely.

Good. Maybe they will be forced to put on a real TV show (that I won't watch) instead of this pablum (that I don't watch either). They do say "Every cloud has a silver lining"
