The globetrotting competition returns early next year.
November 11, 2021
CBS has finally set a premiere date for the long-awaited return of The Amazing Race. Season 33 of the reality competition is on the network's midseason schedule with a release date set for early in the new year.
It has been a year-and-a-half wait for the long-running show's new season, which was three episodes into filming in March 2020 when it was forced to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. After a lengthy hiatus, production was eventually able to complete.
Season 33 of The Amazing Race premieres on January 5, 2022.

ermm.. "couldn't get the actors together cause of Covid" --??/ what? Covid hit in 2020... what about 2017... 2018...2019??? Don't get me wrong I'm glad there'll be another season.. but come on., this loooooooooong delay was NOT "due to covid". Covid is not responsible for everything, even if it is now the go-to excuse for everything.

It will be interesting to see how they explain the gap. They probably had to re-plan the rest of the season since there's still a lot of places in the world where tourists aren't allowed. And let's hope none of the cast and crew was traumatically affected by COVID during the hiatus!

I can truthfully say that I've never watched this show.

.. oh Same for Canada's Amazing Race.. they only leave the country once or twice.

Australia manages to pull off a great season of Amazing Race only leaving the country once, maybe twice. They've done that for years. The US is a big place.. it can be done. Of course, they would lack the language barrier episodes which are generally fun to watch.

The administration is already hinting at banning some domestic travel. Combine that with countries that have turned to penal colonies again, I don't see how the future of the show looks good, at least not in the near future.

How?
With a global pandemic ongoing this is the last show I expected to air new episodes.
Hopefully it won’t be like that “family season” where they spent 99% of their time in the United States. Ugh that was a boring season.
