The CW announced today that The Flash will be coming to an end after its upcoming ninth season. The drama was renewed for Season 9 back in March, though there was no word that the time that it would be its last.
Currently sitting at 171 episodes, the series is one of the longest-running superhero-based TV shows of all time. Its final season will be the shortest of its run at just 13 episodes, which will bring its total to 184.
The Flash follows forensic scientist Barry Allen, who fights crime using his speedster abilities as The Flash, with help from his friends at Star Labs. Based on the DC comic, the series takes place in the same universe as fellow DC-based superhero fare on the network.
Look for the final season of The Flash in 2023.

It's sad to hear that the show is ending I think they should do at least one more season like they did Smallville I think that would be awesome

I do enjoy Gustin Grant on screen. I think the actor has a lot of good chemistry and screen presence. However as the show got more woke, pushing "The Message" in your face, the quality has dropped and become more and more cringy. When they fired the actor that played Ralph, I knew it was the end and it really deserved to be. People shouldn't be crucified and cancelled out of their jobs for things they have said in the past.
And then the rinse and repeat of speedsters. Everything is speedsters, there aren't any other villains anymore. Everyone you meet is a speedster.
And anyway, The Flash has become a side character in his own show - it now mostly focuses on everyone else, because having a leading white man is bad.
So, much as I enjoyed it, it's past time to cancel it. Hope you move on to greater things GG.

I agree with most people saying it should have ended several years ago. It has been bad for several years. I thought the show was good for the first few seasons when they had Reverse Flash, Zoom and Gorilla Grodd.

Wow finally. I’ve got to episode 8 of season 8 and gave up. I’d say the last 2 seasons have been awful. Time to move on.

Thank God. Every season gets longer and longer, even though the episode counts are the same. I did like Nora and Bart. Time to go.

I agree with one of the prior comments. I loved Ralph’s character. He brought something to the show that was lost from several seasons earlier, that being hilarious humor. I have grown so weary of the show being about other speedsters, especially the reverse flash. Please for the sake of the final season make it about something else than other speedsters! I have remained loyal to this show but truly it really has lost its edge. I hope it ends well though.

The series started out well, but you can only go back to the same well so many times. Each season story arc was basically the same as the last. A big bad appears, the group rallies after internal strife to defeat it. Rinse and repeat.
I can't say I bear it any ill will, but its time came and went several seasons ago.
