NBC announced today that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has been renewed for Season 26. The news comes midway through the show's current 25th season, which will be its shortest to-date at 13 episodes due to last year's writers strike.
While not a surprise given its continued strong performance, the news does extend the veteran procedural's already record-setting run as American television's longest-running scripted live-action series. It will hit the 550-episode mark next month.
Franchise mate 'Law & Order' was renewed today as well for the 2024-2025 season, though 'Law & Order: Organized Crime' is still in discussions for renewal.

Thinking a show with "special victims unit" in the title is "too woke."
SVU isn't remotely left-wing, but if you think going after abusers and traffickers is "woke," maybe you need to delete your browser history.

@Don - @Lane Johnson is correct. I used to love that show and now it is unwatchable because of what that poster said. Unless you subscribe to that political view and then it’s a great show for you.

I gave up around season 12 or so other than an occasional view. They've done just about every permutation you can have on sex crimes and now it's just repeating itself.

YAY!! I have seen every single episode of every single season!! I watch all of the Law & Orders and Chicago Ones!! I set the DVR and watch ASAP!! So glad they're back!! ☺️

This show is past it's prime. Benson should be retiring with her 30 years in. It has never been as good as with Meloni.
