The veteran procedural will return this fall.
May 8, 2025
NBC announced today that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has been renewed for Season 27. The news comes a week before the show wraps its current 26th season.
While not a surprise given its continued strong performance, the news does extend the veteran procedural's already record-setting run as American television's longest-running scripted live-action series. It currently sits at 571 episodes.
Franchise mate 'Law & Order' was renewed today as well for the 2025-2026 season. While SVU is a spinoff of 'Law & Order,' it has been on the air longer due to the latter's 2010 cancellation, which kept it off the air for 12 years.

This show sucks. Benson and Ice-T are older than most police. They would have taken their pensions by now.
