CBS announced today that the milestone 50th season of Survivor will premiere on Wednesday, February 25. The veteran reality competition has been promoting Season 50, dubbed 'In the Hands of the Fans,' for some time now, giving fans the chance to vote on key elements of the game such as 'Idols or No Idols,' 'Final Four Fire Making: Keep It or Lose It' and 'Live Finale and Reunion Show in L.A. – or Keep the Winner Reveal and Aftershow in the Jungles of Fiji.'
Also, the cast of competitors will be made up of 24 returning players going all the way back to Season 1, including two yet-to-be-named players from the current season.
On the air since the year 2000, Survivor is the longest-running reality show on broadcast network television. The series continues to be a reliable performer for CBS, airing two seasons each year.

Having seen all 49 seasons to date, I can't wait. But unfortunately these superstar seasons with old players returning have a tendency to fall flat. Much has been made of the new era and how the old players will fare, but part of the problem is that taking players from as long ago as 25 years is going to show their age.

It will be interesting to see how the players from the earlier days fare against the newer ones. I wish they would go back to the old school way but that ship has sailed and the show is very formulaic now.

Kinda tired of "the new era" with all the journeys and "beware" advantages.. should go back to just standard play. That was better - took more psychological play. It's far too much "luck" now.
