The medical drama continues its impressive run.
April 20, 2018
Late tonight ABC announced that Grey's Anatomy will be returning for a 15th season. The pickup not only extends the medical drama's already-impressive run, it also makes it the network's longest-running prime time scripted series of all time. That record was previously-held by the 1950s sitcom The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriett.
On the air since 2005, the veteran Shonda Rhimes hospital drama continues to be a strong performer in ABC's Thursday night lineup. While its ratings are not quite what they were in its heyday, the show still ranks as the network's top drama in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic.
Grey's Anatomy follows Dr. Meredith Grey and her coworkers at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. The staff of attending physicians, residents, and surgical interns are faced with all types of medical cases, from trivial to life-threatening. While furthering their careers, they learn and grow from the patients they treat and the relationships they form with each other.

I don't watch this show, but I'm surprised that it has not ended already considering it's up against ratings blockbuster "The Big Bang Theory" and its companion show "Young Sheldon" on Thursday nights at 8 Eastern/7 Central.

Totally agree with Sherry. I like both The Resident and Chicago Med. Grey's Anatomy has gotten ridiculous so I've stopped watching. Something about the stuff Shonda Rhimes does that all her shows share in common: The Ridiculous Factor. I can't watch any of her stuff. Greys needs to go.

Florida...you are so wrong about Chicago Med and The Resident.
I would rather watch those two shows because they are more realistic than a Grey's episode.

Season 15 was really bad! I am hoping next year will be better. Season 16 needs to get rid of those new interns and Jo. I can't stand to watch them because they all get on my last nerve! Actually, so does Pompeo! I could use more scenes with Bailey and Weber. Maybe they need to advance the show about 20 years and let it be a new generation of people and get rid of Meredith! I quit watching a few weeks ago with the announcement of April and Arizona leaving!

Kristen I totally agree with you. It used to be a fantastic show but the last few seasons have had some good episodes but most have been meh and I end up just watching them for watching thems sake and not really enjoying it like I used to. For me it ended when kristina and Derek left.

I don't get why it's continually renewed. I guess either Rhimes has a friend on the board or people seem to like this still after 15 years. But then I have no idea why all these formulaic cop/legal/medical/rescue/superhero shows littler the network landscape. They all seem uncreative, repetitive, and uninspired to me.. not what I choose to tune in to anything for.

I see Pompeo is still on her knees..Question is,Who does she keep blowing for this crap to keep getting renewed? The show has cobwebs all over it. Like Pompeo's Va-J-J

If those other shows are knockoffs of Grey's then Grey's A. must be a knockoff of any medical show before it like maybe E.R. its just another "medical" show.
