CBS announced today that NCIS has been renewed for a 23rd season. The news comes midway through the flagship naval procedural's 22nd season.

On the air since 2003, the show is one of CBS' most successful series of all-time, ranking as the longest-running drama currently on the network. It has two spin-offs on the air, 'NCIS: Origins' and 'NCIS: Sydney,' both of which were renewed today as well.

Originating from a concept and characters that were initially introduced in a two-part episode of the CBS series 'JAG,' NCIS was referred to as 'Navy NCIS' in its first season. The series follows the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which is the primary law enforcement and counter-intelligence arm of the United States Department of the Navy. Together, the team works in high-stress situations while dealing with often-complex and always-amusing personal dynamics.

Look for Season 23 of NCIS as part of the 2025-2026 television season this fall.
