CBS announced today that NCIS has been picked up for a 19th season. The news is no surprise, as the veteran series remains a strong performer for the network.
One of the CBS' most successful series of all-time, NCIS continues to maintain its flagship status. Along with being the longest-running drama series currently on the network, it also holds the distinction of being the most-watched drama on any of the broadcast networks. On the air since 2003, the show recently surpassed the 400 episode milestone - a truly impressive feat.
Originating from a concept and characters that were initially introduced in a two-part episode of the CBS series JAG, NCIS was originally referred to as Navy NCIS in its first season. The series follows the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which is the primary law enforcement and counter-intelligence arm of the United States Department of the Navy. Together, the team works in high-stress situations while dealing with often-complex and always-amusing personal dynamics.
Look for Season 19 of NCIS during the 2021-2022 television season this fall.

I guess I'm glad the show will be around for another season, but just barely. The actors are starting to show their age and it's clear Gibbs has one foot out the door of NCIS. Plus there was a huge paring down in the number of regular characters recently. Maybe it was simply because the story logistics became too hard, or maybe it was simply because they needed to cut the budget. Either way it's back to basics.
Even so, every once in awhile they do something interesting which is why I still watch.

This is good news, but I hope they really lift their game as this last season has seemed checked out, especially Gibbs... There's no show without him, but if the character is half-arsing it, there's really no point as even with the longer term characters and Handy Manny, I'm just not overly engaged with them...

honestly, i dont miss abby at all, she was good at first but she lasted way too long and any episode with her being totally irrational for stupid reasons got on my nerves.
whats with supporting characters dropping like flies though?

i'm glad it's returning as well i've watched in since around the middle of season 1 & the reason why they cut back on Ducky was cause the actor who portrays him wanted more time with his grand kids and his wife.
I hope it's on for a few more years with Gibbs. i dunno if the show can continue on without him as the lead though. Vance though has more lives than a fucking cat i think

@bonkers, Gibbs can run in a circle for an hour and fans would still tune in. Ducky is practically retired anyways, it is nice to see him pop on when he can.

Ducky, Gibbs, and Vance need to be retired before this happens. They are rehashing the same whiny stories over and over again, I still think the rest of the team have some story left in them, but the old guard needs to move on and get out of the way already...
